it’s okay…that i eat weird stuff.

i seem to be out of blogging material lately.  no, actually, i’ve lost my mojo.  thank goodness for blog link ups with faithful blog friends to get my creative juices flowing.  they also help me keep y’all semi-updated random-style.  you know how much i love being random.

so, for today’s reading pleasure, i’m linking up with TWO blog friends.  no, make that FOUR because each link up is hosted by two bloggers.

first up, i’m joining amber & neely for…

Its Ok Thursdays

it’s okay…

to be excited yet stressed about getting a free bathing suit from old navy.  my twinsie & i had the perfect suits picked out on tuesday night only to find out that our free coupon wasn’t valid until…today.  whomp, whomp.  oh, you want a free bathing suit, too?  join crowdtap.  free suits are not guaranteed, but they are always doing an old navy sample share.

that i’m ridiculously excited that the sun is shining.  beryl’s leftovers snailed across my area yesterday totally ruining my plans to run errands {read: patrol the aisles at target} and zapped my motivation {read: my bathrooms are still dirty}.

that i’m still in love with my nearly two week old shellac mani.  i have some serious growth, but my nails are not chipped, yo.

to be pretty excited about doing the mean abs june challenge with celia.  oh, who am i kidding…i’m nervous as hell!  she just emailed me to let me know the difference between a sit-up and a crunch.  yeah.  pray that i’ll make it through the month of june.  oh, and if no one hears from me via the blog or the twit, it’s because i’m on the ground…and i can’t get up.  ha ha ha!

that i look forward to 7:20 a.m. every weekday morning.  why?  because that’s when my kids walk out the front door and get on the school bus.  if they did not wake up and immediately start arguing, then mornings would not be so painful.  unfortunately {i kid, i kid}, there aren’t very many days of school left.  so, for now, i’m cherishing my mornings alone.

that i watch a lot of PBS now that we don’t have fancy cable.  fyi:  watching bob ross paint “happy little trees” can still put me to sleep.

to never want to eat another hot dog again…or until our next cookout.  my memorial day weekend diet consisted of hot dogs and bud light.  nothing else.  oh, wait.  i had a mimosa, too.

that i’m ridiculously excited that picmonkey does collages now!  whoop, whoop!

now, i’m joining cole & andrea {for the first time eva!} for…

3 on Thursday

three on thursday
today’s topic is…

what three foods do you eat that are weird?  what foods do you eat that people would think are strange?

ha ha ha…be prepared to get grossed out, y’all.  i’m serious.  i’m half-chinese so i have some questionable eating habits {i mean this in a nice way…if you’re asian, no need to get bent out of shape}.  i’m NOT a picky eater.  never have been.  but, i do eat quite a few things that most of y’all probably wouldn’t.

i’ve written about some of our food encounters before:  the time i tried sea cucumber, some of the foods we enjoy & i even bragged about how my kids are NOT picky eaters.

to narrow down my quirky eating habits to just three things is kind of limiting but i’ll play along…

1.  tripe.  i don’t eat chitterlings, but i’ll eat tripe.  you know what tripe is, right?  it’s stomach.  usually cow or pig.  i don’t know which animal’s stomach i’m eating at dim sum or when i get a big, steaming bowl of pho, but it’s good.  my kids eat it, too.  we told them it was calamari.  ha ha ha.

2. kim chi. i love the stuff. come to think of it, i love just about any and all pickled or fermented vegetable there is. well, definitely everything they include in the banchan when you eat at a korean restaurant. my favorite sushi is the oshinko maki roll and it’s made from a pickled diakon radish. yum, yum.

3. spam. okay, so this one isn’t as scary as, say, tripe, but it’s mystery meat, yo. and, why i love the stuff makes no damn sense when you consider i will ONLY eat certain brands/types of hot dogs {none of that crazy mystery meat in my hot dog, but put it in a can with a blue label and i’m game}. spam fried rice is something i grew up eating. it’s my comfort food. i was also born in hawaii and lived there for years so i grew up eating spam musubi.

what are some weird things that you eat??

  1. Um, what is the difference between a crunch and a situp?

  2. I love plain dried oatmeal with a little brown sugar. Yes, Husband thinks I’m totally weird. My sister is Korean so we used to have a lot of KimChi in the house, I despise how it smells (especially the time when my dad insisted he make his own….rotting cabbage in a jar on the counter top….yucko!)

  3. Yeah, that stuff is weird. ;)

kidding! i need to be more adventurous.

thanks for linking up with us, friend!

  4. I joined crowdtap a while back, but haven’t been active on there. I need to check it out! I looove shellac manis. I have had mine almost a week and it looks new still!

  5. The only one on your list I won’t eat is tripe… But if you’ve seen the um, “stuff” I’ve eaten, you know that you can lie to me, I’ll eat it, THEN you tell me what I actually ate. :-)

  6. We always had spam in our cabinet growing up!

  7. Free swim suit?! How did I not know about this?! I’ve never had any of those three thigns… blehhh!

  8. Can I say that “it’s ok” that it’s now Saturday night and I’m commenting on your Thursday post?

But now I want a manicure, free swimsuit, awesome abs, and yes, a mimosa!
