i’ve been blogging a little more than FIVE years. my blog0versary was back in june. my first post sucked. oh, hell, who am i kidding, my first year of blogging sucked! why did i start blogging? because i needed an outlet to bitch and typing is SO much easier than writing in a journal. remember myspace? yeah, that. anyways, i “blogged” on my myspace page, but decided to move to blogger and make my blog for real. over the years, my blog has evolved from just being a diary of sorts, to a mom blog to a “whatever life throws at me i’m going to write about because i’m going to keep shit real” type of blog. i’ve had numerous layouts & formats over the years, but now i am in my forever home on wordpress.
ah, college. a place where i went wrong in so many ways. yes, i went to college and, yes, i eventually graduated…one year later than i was supposed to. but, when you consider that i dropped out of college my sophomore year…well…i still think i did well. i didn’t graduate with a fabulous gpa, but i graduated. i went to mary washington college in fredericksburg, virginia. it’s now the university of mary washington, but it’s still good, ole m.w.c. to me. after my freshman year, i transferred to old dominion university in norfolk, virginia because i was in love and wanted to be back at home with my man. i also dropped out of college that year. don’t worry, the following year, i headed back to mary washington and got my shit straight. i graduated in 2000 with a bachelor of arts degree in geography.
never to europe {unless you count busch gardens…ha ha ha!}, but i have been to quite a few states in the united states {we drove across country when we moved from hawaii to virginia}: california, arizona, new mexico, texas, mississippi, tennessee, alabama, georgia, south carolina, florida, north carolina, hawaii, maryland, new hampshire, massachusetts, connecticut, pennsylvania, new york…you get the picture. also, i’ve been to hong kong {that’s where my mommy is from}, mexico, canada, and quite a few places in the caribbean: st. thomas, aruba, grand cayman, jamaica, curacao, puerto rico.
paying off debt would be too boring, huh? but, that is what i would do. then, i would buy us a bigger house. oh, and get adam a new truck.
mouth noises, liars, and arrogant people {because, let’s face it, your poo does NOT smell like roses}
currently, my kids & i are still obsessed with the harry potter series. but, my favorite movie of all time is shag. meet me in st. louis runs a close second.
7. what is your drink of choice: wine, beer, liquor OR water, soda, tea?
i drink a LOT of water. a LOT. i’ve also kicked my soda habit. well, for the most part. i will still get a fountain coke {pepsi will only do if i’m desperate} if we’re out, but we do not buy soda any more. la croix is my new “soda.” i also love sweet tea, but i’ve been making the tazo passion tea instead. i love it unsweetened. my husband? not so much. as for booze, i’m a beer girl…hands down. i love wine, but i’d rather have an ice cold beer. the only liquor i really enjoy drinking is vodka…in a bloody mary.
what in the hell is “me time?” seriously, i have to lock the bathroom door and act constipated if i want any me time. okay, okay, so it’s not that bad. when i have the time, i love meeting this gal for coffee and pedis. or, if i’m at home, i will – more than likely – sit around and do nothing. really.
i hate to say it, but adam & i would spend that money at either lowe’s or the home depot. i would love to spend like crazy at target or nordie’s, but our house is in need of a few improvements and that $10k would help. damn, now i wish i had an extra $10k lying around…
10. share with us an embarrassing moment of your past? or present.
i’ll keep this short & sweet: i’ve been known to take out mailboxes with my vehicle. consider yourself warned.
probably my wedding day. i feel like an asshat for saying this, but i don’t really remember much from my wedding day. it’s all a blur in my memory. of course, it was a little over TEN years ago, so maybe that is why. maybe for our 15 year anniversary adam & i will do a vow renewal.
umm…i have NO clue. seriously. NO clue.
i didn’t start to work until the summer before i left for college and i was a hostess for a local restaurant. when i came home, i worked as a cashier at a home improvement store and at a children’s play place. i waited tables here and there. i also worked at the deli counter at the old jewish mother {for any local peeps reading} waaaaaay back in the day. in college, i worked in retail for rugged wearhouse {that’s not a typo}. woof.
p.s. this is a scanned photo of the original photo {given to me by a friend} because – you know- digital cameras did not exist back then. 35mm film was my b.f.f. back in the day.
adam and i love mexico. he speaks spanish…i do not. but we’ve talked more than once about how we would LOVE to see more of mexico.
and, eat at rick bayless’ restaurants.
we used quite a few of them on our christmas card.
17. where do you see your life 5 years from now?
um, in five years i’ll be one month away from turning 40.
also? i’ll have two kiddos in high school: one freshman & one junior.
as for everything else, well, i can’t focus because i’m still hung up on the 40 thing.
are you new to my blog?
